A Thank You to Our Customers for Helping Me Do What I Do

When I took the role of the Territory Manager for Nexeed in Alberta over four years ago, I felt I had a good grasp of the seed cleaning industry. I had grown up on a farm and knew what it took to get a crop from seeding to harvest. I completed my BSc in Agronomy at University of Manitoba and worked in the industry for a number of years, the most relevant being a certified seed grower a short drive west of Winnipeg. If there was one thing I had learned from this experience it was that the best way to earn respect in your field is to work alongside your customers and really understand what they deal with day to day.

My first task when I started at Nexeed was to reach out to existing customers and offer to come work with them in the plant for a day. I learned a lot of tricks and tips that really helped me to understand the Cimbria equipment and why everyone loved it so much. I found that as I did this more and more, whenever I was speaking with a new or potential customer I would find myself telling those stories. I knew from experience why something worked the way it did or why you adjusted certain settings before others. This now makes it a lot easier to walk people through the machine’s and explain in better detail as I could always visualize myself beside the machine remembering having done it.

What this boils down to is that once we sell a new piece of equipment, I'm your guy. From guidance on machine selection to advice on installation to commissioning and beyond. I would like to think that this has earned me a reputation for not ever leaving anyone hanging at a time when they needed help. I have had customers call me to help them work through issues on competitor’s equipment simply because when they thought of who could help them I was the first one who came to mind.
