Coronation Delta 108 Upgrade

There are certain instances where the phrase “less is more” does ring true and make sense, however in the case of comparing the Delta Cimbria 108 Super Cleaner to the 118 Fine Cleaner, more is definitely more! In this case of comparison, it is more air flow. This was one of the biggest features of the Delta 108 Super Cleaner that convinced Coronation Seed Plant to upgrade their Delta 118 and purchase a new Cimbria Delta 108 Super Cleaner!

“Bottom air was the biggest thing for me, it was more than worth the upgrade. You get that extra lift with the added air flow when we need it”, says Glen Hartel, plant manager at Coronation Seed Plant. This plant is in a unique situation as they are the only seed cleaning plant in the entire territory; and when you are putting through around 1.2 million bushels per year and your customers are relying on you, throughput, quality cleaning and efficiency is everything!

The Cimbria Delta 108 Super Cleaner gives you exactly that! It has been developed for high quality fine cleaning thanks to the pre and after suction system. Two air lifting blowers at the bottom of the machine ensure unrivalled air cleaning and grading. Look at it as an upgraded more high-performance piece of seed cleaning equipment. The 108 offers a more powerful cleaning process with increased efficiency in separating impurities and finer fractions. This is due to the optimized airflow systems, move effective sieves, and a greater emphasis on precision. It has the ability to handle much larger volumes and finer separations which takes the pressure off your other seed cleaning equipment and allows the entire plant to run more efficiently.

Glen states, “we are noticing that we can be more consistent at a higher throughput and still get cleaner product in the end. We had to rely more on our gravity table before, but now our 108 takes more workload and spreads it out and we are getting much cleaner and better quality than before while increasing throughput”.

Coronation Seed Plant has only been running the new 108 for around one month now and they have already noticed that they are getting at least 100 bushels per hour more on cleaning barley than they were before, and have also noticed more superior quality end product.

“The amount of air it will put out even at half speed is a very nice feature and makes it absolutely worth the upgrade, it makes our job easier” says Glen.

Coming to work now for the boys at Coronation Seed Plant is like playing with their fancy new Christmas toy! Glen is beaming with excitement when he tells me how they can’t wait to run peas through their new 108. “You can never have enough wind with cleaning peas. Lifting thistles out can be a struggle and this new super cleaner will allow us to do this with ease!”.

And if you are wondering how much of a process it was to change out machines and set up the new Delta 108? Glen states, “The set-up and commissioning went really well and fired right up! It was a very easy transition and start-up process, just flipped the switch and it ran great!”.

You must keep in mind that the Delta 108 Super Cleaner is approximately 3 feet higher than the 118 Fine Cleaner due to the bottom air, so that little bit of extra space needs to be considered. In this case Glen and the boys at Coronation Seed Plant welcomed this feature as they said “the whole machine is sitting higher which makes it a much easier working environment and to see inside your not having to bend down and maneuver around”. They also noted that they really like the way the doors on the back lift up and hinge in place while you are changing screens much easier and more efficient.
