Good Vibes with Cimbria Equipment, a horizontal solution!

Many seed and grain processing plants are designed and built on a “Top Down” process flow model with multi levels, utilizing gravity for much of the conveyance between the different pieces of equipment.

But what if you have limited head space or are trying to fit new equipment in an old space without vertical luxury.

Enter the Cimbria “Vibrating Conveyor”

The model below shows a Cimbria GA310 gravity table with a “vibe conveyor” transferring the heavy “good” product horizontally, where it will drop into an elevator leg above the boot pulley, or some other conveyance.

The green arrows show product flow. The orange arrows point to the counter rotating electric vibe-motors and show the basic direction of vibration.

The vibe conveyor is ideal for locations where a compact, horizontal solution is required. The vibe conveyor avoids leakage around head and tail rollers of a belt conveyor, and damage from a chain conveyor.

Also, cleanout is 100% with no place for product to get hung up.

Theory of operation:

Two counter-rotating vibe motors are bolted to the lower support for the tray. The tray is supported on the stands by heavy elastomer iso-mounts.

RPM of the twin vibe motors is adjusted as needed by variable frequency drives to obtain the needed vibration/product flow that matches the output of the gravity table in this case.

There is also the ability to adjust the aggressiveness of the vibe motors by indexing the counterweight components on the motor shafts as required on initial commissioning.

Other uses for the vibe conveyor are:

  • Under a colour sorter for the “high value” fractions on a floor level install.
  • Bypass conveyance above equipment in low roof areas.
  • For use with any other process equipment with low discharge points.
